Yep, today the emphasis is always on “Get it done by the ship date no matter what.” It doesn’t matter if this doesn’t work, it doesn’t matter if the code is not clean and properly written as long as it produces the output, the only thing that does matter is we have promised the customer so we must ship it.

It would make life for engineers like me a living hell. Hack this, and get it done by thursday. Oh yes, let’s just keep hacking until the point where people started getting fired for not understanding how to hack terribly hacky and crappy code.
